Last year I have been asked by Philip Tedeschi, Director of the Institute for Human-Animal Connection at the University of Denver if I would give an interview for his upcoming book. I gladly accepted and here is the result. The book is called “Transforming Trauma: Resilience and Healing Through Our Connections With Animals (New Directions in the Human-Animal Bond)” by Philip Tedeschi, Molly Anne Jenkins and Dr. Bruce Perry. The book features information about the “Dogs for People” project in Romania, the first Animal Assisted Therapy project exclusively with former stray dogs. The project started in 2004 as an initiative of the animal welfare NGO Four Paws and aims to change people’s mentality about stray dogs while providing animal assisted interventions for children with disabilities and elders.
